On January 27, over sixty women gathered to learn about the Jews of Morocco and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Moroccan Jewry. The Pomegranate Event of the Women's Alliance recreated a Moroccan casbah. Attendees were treated to a slide show about the Moroccan Jewish community, belly dance performances, henna painting, and a Moroccan marketplace. Karen Katz served as the chairperson for this fabulous event. The Pomegranate is also the name of the unique community of women within the Women’s Alliance who are committed to bringing Jewish values to life through tzedakah, or righteous giving. Each woman's individual donation to the Jewish Community Federation Campaign begins at $1,800. Pomegranate programs provide an opportunity to develop bonds with other committed women and to develop a more tangible understanding of how our gifts touch thousands of lives worldwide.
